Does the massive increase in communications technology -- the internet, cell phones, satellite and cable television, internet video like youtube, and so on -- make us more informed? Or does it do the opposite -- spead doubt, confusion, lies, mythology, crackpot conspiracy theories, and the like? Bandwidth will keep increasing and increasing, so what should we expect for the future?

Star appeal, big budgets and swanky foreign locations have all failed to bring cheer to Bollywood as the world's biggest film industry struggled to make a profit in the first half of 2007.
Most entertainment analysts agreed it was almost impossible for Bollywood to repeat the success of 2006 -- its best year ever -- but the failure to deliver even one blockbuster so far in 2007 has surprised all.

Intel has teamed with Indian training company NIIT to develop a global multicore processor technology training curriculum.
NIIT is the only training company with which Intel is currently partnering on a global basis. The multicore training program will be delivered by NIIT and its subsidiary Element K Corp. in Rochester, New York.

India's software and services exports are estimated to have grown 32 percent to 31.3 billion U.S. dollars in 2006-07.
India's revenues from software and services will reach the 50 billion U.S. dollar mark in 2007-08.

EDS said Tuesday it completed its acquisition of Bangalore, India-based RelQ Software Private Ltd., a privately held software testing company.
EDS said RelQ, which has 700 employees in India, Great Britain, the U.S. and France, will be fully integrated into the company's global testing organization.
The deal brings the size of EDS' Indian work force to more than 20,000.

It may be an Indian consumer's dream -- cheap cars for $2,500-$3,000 within reach of millions of a swelling middle class. But it could also prove to be a traffic and environmental disaster. Nissan Motor Co. and Renault SA announced last week they were studying a $3,000 car to compete in India against Tata Motors Ltd.'s planned low-cost "People's Car" targeted at around $2,500 to hit the market next year.

Formula 1 car maker Ferrari relies on an Indian software company to deliver its 300 km per hour performance on the race track. The firm has been collaborating with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) since 2004, when it decided to look for an engineering and IT consulting partner. The two came together for the development of the Formula 1 racing car and the Ferrari Sports car and have since enjoyed an ongoing relationship that spans a gamut of the F1 car maker’s IT needs for before, during and between races.

Microsoft plans to start testing a new education PC called IQ PC and an education channel on its MSN portal in India next month. The India launch of the IQ PC and education channel will be the first worldwide. It is part of Microsoft's "Unlimited Potential" program, which aims to use technology to increase the reach of education, said a spokeswoman for Microsoft India on Wednesday.
