The Future of Aging

This is a PAST event. See "Meeting Notes" section for audio, video, documents and other information.

Original event date/time: Friday November 21st, 2008, 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

November's topic is the future of aging. For this meeting we will have a special panel.

Abstract:

Rosemary Williams has worked in the field of aging for 35 years. Before her retirement, she served as the Director of Aging Services for Boulder County for fifteen years.

Leigh Collings has worked as a Geriatric Care Manager for the past 7 years which has heightened her awareness of the opportunities and the inevitable challenges of aging.

Jeff Rubin is a consultant, facilitator and co-founder of the national Alliance for Holistic Aging, a grassroots collaboration for outreach, education and assistance in addressing boomer and aging issues.

Questions

More and more people are living longer, healthier lives.. As you look into the future the landscape of aging will be different:

  • What will it be like for you to "age well"?
  • How can your community support you to "age well"?
  • How can communities make the best possible use of the resource that older adults represent?
  • What do you see as the opportunities of an aging society?
  • What will be the challenges of an aging society? How can communities and the nation prepare now for the increasing numbers of older adults?
